COUNCILLOR’S BRIDGE-BUILDING PLAN – FOR A FRACTION OF THE COST!

first_imgA local councillor has come up with a novel idea to build a bridge across his community – for literally a fraction of the price!Buncrana Town Councillor Ciaran McLaughlin has long been campaigning for a new footbridge in the Cockhill area. However the Sinn Fein politician was told by the local council it would cost in the region of €150,000 to build such a bridge. However while browsing online Cllr McLaughlin came across a 100 ft second-hand footbridge for sale with an asking price of just €5,000.Now he is to present his idea to Buncrana Town Council to see if they will back his proposal.“I’m not sure if all the dimensions fit but I think it’s worth a go and investigating.“During the current difficult economic times I think we have to think outside of the box. “It’s no secret that Cockhill desperately needs a footbridge and this could be out answer.“We could get the bridge for a fraction of the original costings and even if we were to spend money upgrading it, it could possibly save us a small fortune,” he said.   COUNCILLOR’S BRIDGE-BUILDING PLAN – FOR A FRACTION OF THE COST! was last modified: June 16th, 2013 by StephenShare this:Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Click to share on Skype (Opens in new window)Click to print (Opens in new window) Tags:Cllr Ciaran McLaughlinCockhillfootbridgelast_img
